Decompensating

“Decompensating” is a term with which I was exposed in my masters program in psychology at Hardin-Simmons. However, my years of working at the Alan B Polunsky Maximum Security Prison was what you might call “up close and personal” with this term.

Texas government does not like the mentally ill so for many of those who suffer from severe mental illness, Texas says to them, “You can go to prison where we provide for your care.” So they did and we did.
